Lenovo Simplifies IT Infrastructure Deployments With EMC VSPEX
- Streamlined Architecture Provides Enhanced Private Cloud and VDI solutions

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – January 22, 2015: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today announced that Lenovo’s Flex System can now be used to power EMC® VSPEX™ reference architectures for private cloud and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI).  These two EMC-validated solutions - EMC VSPEX by Flex System for Private Cloud and EMC VSPEX by Flex System for VDI – are solutions that address enterprise and mid-market customers’ key challenges, such as lowering total cost of ownership (TCO), faster deployments, and simplified management.

Lenovo’s Flex System based reference architectures – along with two updated ThinkServer based offerings, tailored for small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and upcoming System x based offerings – together provide a complete portfolio of Lenovo x86 server-based EMC VSPEX reference architectures for private cloud and VDI.

EMC VSPEX reference architectures are simple, efficient, and flexible, and help reduce capital expenditures through validated and proven designs, higher system utilization, streamlined cabling, and fewer network connections.  These solutions can also help to reduce operating expenditures by consolidating management tools and creating administrative task efficiencies, freeing IT engineers and architects to focus on more critical business needs.  Additionally, these EMC VSPEX solutions are delivered by EMC and Lenovo channel partners and backed by EMC who supplies a single-point of technical support, consolidating IT support processes.

EMC VSPEX by Flex System for Private Cloud specifies a tested combination of EMC storage with Lenovo’s Flex System compute, networking, and virtualization components to provide a comprehensive enterprise-ready private cloud solution that greatly reduces the time needed to setup and deploy cloud workloads.  This highly flexible and scalable private cloud solution has been designed to support Virtual Machine (VM) environments from 200 to 1,000 VMs, ideal for businesses large and small.  Additionally, Lenovo’s Flex System chassis supports “in place” upgrades giving customers the ability to easily upgrade with the latest technology.

EMC VSPEX by Flex System for VDI is an end-user computing infrastructure solution that allows IT managers to deploy, manage, and maintain thousands of employee desktops from a single user interface.  This solution – specified with Lenovo’s Flex System compute and networking, EMC storage, and VMware® virtualization – can be deployed in hours, reducing IT costs and improving efficiencies.

EMC VSPEX for ThinkServer for Private Cloud and VDI solutions enable SMBs to rapidly deploy an enterprise-grade scalable infrastructure. These flexible and powerful solutions feature Lenovo ThinkServer systems with the latest Intel processors, RackSwitch networking, EMC storage, and VMware virtualization, providing SMB customers with benefits previously available only to enterprise business.
