Pasi Niemi, who has had a long career at the digital engineering company Nitor, has been appointed as the company's Vice President, Research and Development. Niemi took up his new role in June 2024 from his position as head of Nitor Care, which provides 24/7 support and maintenance services. Niemi will continue to serve on the subsidiary’s board of directors.

Niemi will bring greater systematisation to research and development activities to benefit Nitor’s clients and employees. This includes creating various proof-of-concept solutions to support sales and advancing numerous internal development projects and professional growth programs.
Niemi aims to focus on areas that have the potential to create long-lasting, sustainable value for both Nitor and its clients. Investing in future capabilities and a future-proof offering is strategically important for the company. Niemi is also responsible for developing cloud services and related competencies.
"A significant share of the solutions we deliver are hosted on AWS, Google, or Microsoft's cloud platforms. There is also demand for AI solutions, which these cloud giants are now racing to develop. At the same time, we want to address emerging trends in eCommerce, such as composable commerce. My goal is to ensure that our services and expertise remain competitive in the future," says Niemi.
In addition, Niemi is responsible for tasks related to Nitor's overall development that previously needed a clear owner.
"I am in a good position to communicate between the management team and Nitoreans to ensure that even the smallest details are taken care of. I've worked with office infrastructure for a long time and am happy to continue doing so. Office automation is also finally coming together," Niemi, who describes himself as a practical computer geek, says cheerily.
Niemi enjoys spending time with his family and staying active in his free time. As a long-time beach volleyball enthusiast, he also leads Nitor's beach volleyball club.
